As we transition from our founder to the next generation, Gilpin Construction remains guided by the same individuals who helped build its systems, culture, and reputation from the very beginning. With more than 80 combined years of experience in field operations, project management, and financial oversight, our leadership team provides unmatched continuity and stability.
Michael Gilpin - Founder
As a Southeastern Kentucky native and resident, and the son of a minister, Michael graduated from London High School in 1965. He then attended the U.S. Air Force Academy and Eastern Kentucky University. Mike earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from EKU and translated that enhanced ability for precision and problem-solving into the construction site.
Beginning with small-scale projects in 1969, Mike solely pioneered his vision of owning/operating a general contracting firm in 1971. At age 22 he went into residential construction full-time. Four years later, at age 26, he laid out and placed the foundations for a 10,000-square-foot elliptical church construction with 12 laminated wood arches extending 72 feet above the floor.
Since then, Mike has continued to push his abilities and has become a leading contractor in Southeastern Kentucky, managing a vast variety of projects. He is highly respected for his precision, consistency, and high standards.

Michael Dane Gilpin II, President & Chief Executive Officer
Dane brings more than 10 years of field construction experience and over 30 years in Project Management. As co-founder of Gilpin Construction Company, he helped establish the operational systems—estimating, job costing, project management, and supervision—that continue to guide the company today.
Throughout his career, Dane has successfully led new construction and renovation projects across the private, public, and government sectors. As CEO, he remains focused on delivering quality, efficiency, and owner satisfaction on every project.

Aaron Elroy Gilpin, Chief Operating Officer
With more than three decades of construction experience, Aaron oversees all field operations, manpower allocation, and equipment coordination. His background includes seven years of hands on field work and 26 years as a commercial construction Site Superintendent.
Aaron is a KSHE Certified Healthcare Contractor and has led teams through numerous groundup and renovation projects. His leadership ensures that crews remain productive, on schedule, and aligned with the company’s high standards of quality.

D. Gregory Gilpin, Chief Financial Officer
Greg has managed Gilpin Construction Company’s financial operations since its incorporation in 1995. He helped transition the company from early floppy disk accounting systems to modern digital platforms and has overseen day-to-day bookkeeping for nearly three decades.
He coordinates annual fiscal year reviews and tax filings with the company’s CPA and recently led the successful implementation of a construction specific accounting ERP—strengthening the company’s financial accuracy, compliance, and longterm stability.

Their shared experience, longstanding commitment, and deep understanding of the company’s operations ensure a seamless transition as they continue the legacy established by their father.
